Cruachan is the war cry of the ancient and royal clan Campbell whose motto reads 'Ne Obliviscaris' (Do Not Forget). You are promised a warm welcome to this very homely, non-smoking guest house in the heart of Edinburgh.
A very select breakfast is served in a bright conservatory dining room, which offers full Scottish Breakfast, porridge, local kippers plus a range of homemade salmon fish cakes, tatties, scones and cheese, onion and potato grills.
All rooms have central heating, a TV and tea and coffee-making facilities. There is a pay phone for residents' use and a comfortable residents lounge with TV.

Good
The location was fine, central enough. There was fruit, tea etc in he room and the breakfast was extensive and good. Friendly manager.
The room was quite cramped, there was a fridge on the floor which made a lot of noise. The hall smelt unpleasantly of food. The road was extremely noisy, until about 1 or 2 am. Also I found 2 hairs in my fried egg..

An ancient Scottish home within walking distance of the heart of Edinburgh
This beb has great value for money. The room was bright, spacious, clean and with a nice view of the garden. The bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom (as clearly signposted) was outside the room but not far away and was okwith shower and tub. The breakfast served in the veranda was discreet with opportunityt o order hot food. The location was really convenient within walking distance to downtown. The owner (or his employee) was really nice and welcoming. The neighborhood was a good neighborhood very quiet
Only small improvements: the doors of the rooms are ancient and I had some problems in locking them; just as I had some difficulties with the front door maybe a handle with a code would be better. Finally I would have preferred to have the bathroom key also to access.

Good choice
My stay was short but nice. Interior is a bit dated but it has a particular charm. I liked that I could easily walk to the city center. Breakfast was full and tasty. Wi-fi in the room was excellent.
Smell from the kitchen in the room in the morning.
